BigCommerce Recognized as Ecommerce Platform Leader as Internet Retailer Top 1000 Adopt SaaS

Company Increases Share of Top U.S. E-Retailers Served 178% YoY

AUSTIN, Texas — May 30, 2017 — BigCommerce today announced it now ranks as the industry’s #1 cloud ecommerce platform for mid-market businesses based on the recently released 2017 Internet Retailer Top 1000 list. The list, which tracks trends among America’s 1,000 largest e-retailers, recognizes more than two dozen BigCommerce customers with revenues between $1 million and $100 million, including fast-growing retailers Austin Bazaar, Dazadi, Man Crates, Pink Lily Boutique and Rock Bottom Golf, among others.

With 25 merchants represented — up from 9 in 2016 — BigCommerce now powers the online businesses of a greater share of the 2017 Internet Retailer 1000 list than all other competing cloud-based platforms, including Shopify, Kibo, Radial, and Volusion. Additionally, 80 percent of BigCommerce customers recognized by Internet Retailer have web sales exceeding $10 million annually.

“The IR1000 list has always represented the best of the best in online retail across the U.S., and we’re honored to be included for the last eight years. Since migrating our online store to BigCommerce three years ago, our business has grown  in unprecedented ways,” said Jason Boyce, CEO and co-founder at Dazadi. “BigCommerce innately understands the requirements of rapidly-growing businesses, and seeing the company expand its market share with established, high-volume brands only serves to reinforce our decision to replatform.”

“This year’s Internet Retailer Top 1000 list validates that BigCommerce has become the best ecommerce platform for companies looking to maximize success and scale revenue in a cost-effective way,” said Brent Bellm, CEO of BigCommerce. “IR1000 merchants increasingly prefer the advantages of our software-as-a-service, which frees them from managing technology in-house. The benefits include market-leading performance, continuous product innovation, reduced operational complexity, faster speed, and lower cost.”
